First check the options of the programs to see if there an an option to switch off the auto run. If your PC has sufficient memory and disk space a slow startup might not be caused by programs, often an Anti Virus / Internet Security program can be the cause of such issues, some are less resource hungary than others

Consider checking the autostarts with e.g. Autoruns (check the Logon and Explorer tabs). Research the program to determine if you need it, and disable those you don't want to have run when the computer starts.

You could find the list of programs and services running at startup executing the MSCONFIG tool. To do this, you will need to go to Start menu | Run | msconfig It will display a window with several tabs. Click on Startup to view the programs loading at your boot and de-select the ones you don't want. Also, you can disable some services going to the Services tab and checking "Hide All Microsoft Services". Note that if you disable any critical drivers service it may stop working and your PC may fail.
